About Dr. Maya Thomas

A physician who measures first — and actually reads your chart before the call.

Dr. Maya Thomas has spent more than a decade practicing at the intersection of functional neurology, sleep medicine, and advanced lab interpretation. Her patients tend to arrive after years of being told "everything looks normal" — and leave with a written plan that finally matches how they feel.

She founded Functional Neurology & Sleep in Salt Lake City to build the clinic she wished had existed for her earliest patients: physician-led, measurement-first, and scaled only as far as depth of care allows.

How Dr. Thomas practices

Five principles that shape every appointment.

01

Measure before you recommend.

Every plan starts with data. We don't guess at supplements, we don't guess at hormones, and we don't recommend a program until the labs say it's the right one.

02

Functional ranges, not population averages.

Conventional ranges are built from everyone — including people who are quietly unwell. Functional ranges are built from people who actually feel and perform well.

03

Fewer tests, read more carefully.

Other clinics will order 25 panels and hand you a binder. We order the panels that answer your question, then we actually interpret them together.

04

A written plan, every time.

Every patient leaves with a written plan in their Member Portal — prioritized, timelined, and tied back to the markers it addresses.

05

Follow-through is part of the protocol.

A plan you forget about doesn't work. Automated email and SMS touchpoints keep you on track without turning the clinic into another nag.

In her words

"The patients I see have been told they're fine for years. They're not fine — they're being measured against the wrong ruler. My job is to take them seriously, find the pattern, and give them a plan that matches how they actually feel."
